Standard (EADGBE)
Monday Morning, hesitate, I can't get out of bed
I'd rather go back to the dreams living in my head... (and so on)
In notation, those chords are played:
So that Am feels a lot like a cheating F (XX321X) just its played up high, and that Em
is a lot like a C, just played up high. I dont know what that Dm is officially, but thats
the chord!
For the chorus, those same chords repeat, then a new progression is introduced:
Ride on, ride till early morning sun
Ride on, like the dawning of the day
It's too late, to let all your feelings show
Go on, til the night is swept away
The slow down your moving too fast bit is the same chords with the same jerky rythym
(Am, Em, Dm, Am), but right at the end of that little section John goes "Cos its TOO
LATE now..." and strums a single chord four times before going into "Ride on..." He
also does it with just one strum before the first chorus.
That single chord he's hitting is an F. (X33010)
And thats pretty much the song. Theres not a whole heap too it, just some
clever timing stuff. Practise hard, you'll get it! Hope that helps.
Lyrics:
Monday morning, hesitate
I can't get out of bed
I'd rather go back to the dreams
I'm living in my head
Yeah... yeah yeah yeah
Tuesday evening, pack my bags
I'm heading out the door
I left a box of memories
lying on the floor
Yeah... yeah yeah yeah
Ride on... ride 'til early morning turn
Ride on... like the dawning of the day
It's too late
to let all your feelings show
Go on 'til the night is swept away
Running from the city lights
Running from this empty life
I'm running out of time tonight
Screaming out for help! Help!
Slow down you're moving too fast
Go home you'll feel better for it
Oh boy you better stop dreaming it's all in your head
'Cause it's too late now
Ride on... ride 'til early morning turn
Ride on... like the dawning of the day
It's too late
to let all your feelings show
Go on 'til the night is swept away
Ride on... run 'til early morning sun
Ride on... like the morning of the day
It's too late
To let every feeling show
Ride on... 'til the night is swept away
